Dan Frisella       Dan Frisella, Superintendent

Dan Frisella has worked for the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Joint Union High School District since 2011 and has been an educational leader for the majority of his professional career.  With a background in special education and outdoor wilderness instruction, Dan has served in almost every instructional role there is in a public school setting -- paraeducator, substitute teacher, teacher, assistant principal, and principal.   Dan was originally hired as an assistant principal at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Union High School and served as principal of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Union from 2014-2016.  In the Fall of 2016, Dan joined the district office administrative team as Assistant Superintendent, and in 2022 began his service as Superintendent of the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Joint Union High School District. 

Prior to working for NJUHSD, Dan worked as a wilderness instructor for Outward Bound Wilderness School in central Oregon.  He also worked for San Marin High School in Novato and Natomas High School in Sacramento as a special education teacher and assistant principal.  Throughout his professional career Dan has maintained a commitment to authentic communication, processes that ensure equity and access for all students, and has worked hard to develop a sense of community among staff, students, and the local community.  In addition to these tenets, Dan also maintains a focus on measurable results, and cycles of continuous improvement for all students and adults within the organization.

Dan lives locally with his wife Julie, and his three school-aged children.  In his free time, he can be found mountain-biking local trails, snowboarding in Tahoe, hiking, traveling, or coaching one of his three boys in basketball or baseball.
 
Dan is thrilled with the opportunity to serve the high school students of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ County as the Superintendent of NJUHSD!
